Haifa is a city with many issues. One of the biggest is the disconnect between the different districts and neighborhoods in it. some of the areas are like islands in the city, not connected to the rest of it and don't really function on there own.

Bat Galim is an extreme example for that problem-

being at the meeting point of the city and the Mediterranean sea from one side and closed by the train tracks and main road (כביש החוף) with only two entrances (by car/bus mainly). In it, Bat galim has Rambam hospital that takes about third of the area and right next to it is a naval army base that takes up not only the entire center of the neighborhood but also splits it in half right at the shore- cutting it off from the promenade that goes all over

Haifa shores and closes half the neighborhood off

from the rest of the area.

My project is based in the area of the naval base as a starting point of trying to re-connect the city to the sea and giving back the area to it's inhabitants, by removing the base and designing new structures including residential, commerce and a public functions, like a hotel, offices area, public pool, public pier, restaurants, stores and events hall.
